Election Day Nov. 6 2012 what can we learn Canadians

Whatever your political stripes are in Canada, you have to admire the USA electoral process. It is definitely different and a more elaborate process but what does it say about our process? Whether the winner will be President Obama or Mr. Romney, they both have ran a campaign that has been worthy and have worked, spoke and presented their viewpoint and parties viewpoint well. Yeah they have flipflopped and the fact checkers have had a blast with erroneous and misleading facts.

The thing for me that I am concerned about is the state of our political process in Canada.  Who is the leader of the Liberals ? Do we have a federal opposition? We have no term limit in Canada for Prime Minister. It is a little sad when there is no leader of the Political opposition recently voted Tom Mulcair as leader of Official Opposition and Leader of Canada’s New Democrats on March 24th, 2012 with 57.2 % of the vote. We have no leader of the liberals for over a year when Mr. Ignatieff resigned.

Provincial politics is not any better as Mr. McGuinty resigned. We are leaderless again and it is the ruling party.

Another one that has baffled me is that both Federally and Provincially we  prorogue parliament. So if I am correctly understanding this, we the tax payers pay their salary. Could you as an employee prorogueyourself and take a vacation?

Whatever your political affiliation is, we can learn a huge lesson from our neighbors down south.
