Christmas time is my favorite time of the year. We offer Christmas lighting for our customers and we wanted to address kid and puppy/kitten proofing. With a little child proof awareness, this festive season can be joyous and safe.

Use lights and extension cords that are UL rated or certified by a Canadain testing group. Ensure extension cords are not frayed or twisted. Do not run long lengths of cord, this presents a tripping hazard and can can tangle up crawling toddling infants. Do not use bulbs that can be easily shattered, LED bulbs are a great substitute and save money as they are more energy efficient.

  Tree

Position the tree in a location where foot traffic wont knock it over. Place the tree in a sturdy stand that is deigned to stand/ counter the weight and height of the tree.

Mistletoe, Holly and Poinsettia

They’re festive, yes, but these holiday greens (as well as others, such as Jerusalem cherry) are poisonous. So be sure to keep them safely out of reach or avoid using them altogether. They are also toxic for our furry friends. If you use them ensure they are secured and placed high aove where little hands or paws can get at them.
